Design Graphics 3
Digital Rendering and Presentation Drawings
This third course in the Design Graphics Sequence takes the same site plan and designs and renders them with digital media. Advanced and additional details fill out the sequence with a full graphic package that encompasses digital renderings, sections, and elevations.

A booklet containing the hand drafted work done in Design Graphics 1 and Design Graphics 2 with new illustrative plans, sections and perspectives rendered digitally. The project focuses on telling the journey of the author going from never drawing in his life to creating a semi-decent set of drawings in Design Graphics 2, and ultimately finding his footing in Design Graphics 3.

The judges praised the strong hierarchy and the well-laid-out inspiration page. The small graphic symbols next to the text are a nice touch, and the photo grids are in a very good format. The section and enlargement are very good overall.

This is the final project for the third and final design graphics course, concluding our in-depth study of Tongva Park with a presentation booklet. This booklet compiles drawings from both Design Graphics 1 and Design Graphics 2 courses, along with hand drawings that were digitally rendered during the Design Graphics 3 course. Students were required to design a presentation booklet using Adobe InDesign that tells the story of their work.

The judges praised the tree canopy diagram and the well-executed animal track graphics. The colored plan is excellent, with the grass area standing out effectively. The colored key map is a nice touch, and the sketch merging with the photo is a unique idea. The elevations and sections are very well done, and the plant palette page is particularly strong.

This project built on work from Design Graphics 1 and 2, using digital tools to refine and enhance previous drawings. It served as a visual narrative of our journey through the program and evolving understanding of Tongva Park. My personal concept centered on a new door opening, a chapter unfolding, mirroring the layered process of discovering the park itself and honing the ability to communicate its spaces through graphic representation.
