2020 Capstone Project

Janice Wondolleck

Reclaiming Trabuco Creek: Linking Communities
Located in the City of San Juan Capistrano, Trabuco Creek exhibits the common characteristics of an underutilized urbanized waterway: extensive concrete hardscape, unsuitable habitat, and disconnected communities.

The project proposes to reclaim Trabuco Creek as an accessible waterway and green space by naturalizing the channel to respond to the needs of the watershed, the environment, and re-engaging the community. What was once a concrete divide is now a vibrant linkage that weaves the community into a natural environment experience.
