Planting Design
In this course, plants and plant groups are studied as basic design elements in the landscape. Instruction emphasizes the arrangement of plant materials for defining, sequencing, and articulating space. Ecological and cultural contexts are examined as determinants for sharply focused design concepts.

This project captured the judges’ attention with its thoughtful integration of indigenous cultural connections, ecological sensitivity, and beautiful graphic execution. The judges particularly appreciated the clear design of communal spaces, the careful selection and layering of the plant palette, and the meaningful storytelling throughout the project.
