Student: Theo Vuduris & Team Master Plan
Create a Downtown Los Angeles Urban Master Plan of large to small flexible public spaces, to bring together the broadest and most diverse community possible. Investigate the history of the area, perform an in-depth site analysis of the site, map the site, and design for six main categories: Education needs, Mixed Use Development, Civic spaces/Public spaces, Residential needs, Public and Community Services, and Mobility and Connectivity. Develop the above stated program elements and areas, to enhance the visitor’s experience, awareness and understanding of the significant history and importance of the site itself, as both a destination, and for those who both work and/or live in the area.

This project is part of a larger group project master plan for the revitalization of two bookend lots and a large connecting raised pedway between Grand Performances and The Colburn School. The site is located in Bunker Hill, within the northern corner of Downtown Los Angeles. Along a stem, or main pathway are a series of program leaves that quench Downtown LA’s thirst for open green space and intertwine them with opportunities for play. It ultimately centers on flowers or focal points for reflection and growth in the form of plazas, spaces for social gathering, and community.
