The expansion of Johnny Carson Park reconnects Burbank to the Los Angeles River through the integration of blue-green infrastructure, transforming the park into a vital ecological and community space. The design draws on the indigenous landscape of the area, honoring the Tongva people’s historical relationship with the river. By restoring wetlands, adding riparian vegetation, and utilizing stormwater capture systems, the project merges urban development with natural restoration. The park\u2019s new features, such as bioswales, pedestrian bridges, and recreational areas, provide opportunities for public engagement with the environment, bringing the city’s hub back to the riverbank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
