Reclaiming Mission Canyon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Mission Canyon exhibits common characteristics of a former landfill: excessive methane gas in the ground, landfill settlement, and poor air quality. The site will be a model for land reclamation and sustainability by incorporating REGENERATIVE design, to promote ecological RESILIENCY, and provide RECREATION, and RESOURCE opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resilient design will use sustainable methods, stormwater management, plant biodiversity, drought tolerant or native plants to create a fire-safe habitat for the community and wildlife. Opening the park for recreation to the public will allow biking and hiking combined with social interaction with nature. The community of users will also benefit from education, public safety, views, and access & equity. Resources for fire-safe land-use, water tanks, a ranger\u2019s residence and a helipad for the fire department are necessary for this area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
